GeoGebra: The Dynamic
Math Software in K-12 Classrooms
(i)
Know the scope of this free software, i.e., what they can do
with GeoGebra in the broad spectrum of mathematics,
(ii)
Know where to go for more information.
(iii) Understand
some key features of GeoGebra and use some tools of GeoGebra,
(iv) Develop GeoGebra
applets, and
(v)
Create html files on the fly of their projects.

A. Start a project of drawing two dynamic Intersecting Straight
Lines (Refer to Instructions).
a) Input slopes, m1
& m2 and y-intercepts b1 and
b2 in the Input Bar
b) Input two straight lines f1(x) = m1x+b1 and f2(x) = m2x+b2
c) Create Sliders for slopes (m1, m2) and y-intercepts (b1, b2)
d) Label the lines with their respective
equations
e) Color the two lines and sliders with
different shades
f) Change Thickness of the straight lines
g) Use Dynamic Text for the straight lines checking specific
conditions such as the lines being perpendicular or parallel to each other.
B. Start a project on dynamic Box and Whisker Plot (Refer to
Instructions).
a) Fill out the GeoGebra Spreadsheet with data
b) Use a couple of GeoGebra commands to draw Box and Whisker Plot
c) Use built-in GeoGebra functions to calculate Minimum (Min), Maximum
(Max), Range (Range), Mean (Mean), Median (Median),
Mode (Mode) and Quartiles (Q1, Q3).
C. Export GeoGebra projects to create html files to upload
on geogebratube.com. You will need to sign up at geogebratube.com (Refer to
Instructions).
